Head of e-Commerce

Harvey Norman is an established international retailer in Electronics, Computers, Furniture & Bedding with prominent international presence in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, North Ireland, Slovenia, Croatia, Malaysia and Singapore. In support with our growing business needs, we are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated team player to join us as Head of e-Commerce.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning and development of the digital business by actively collaborating with the retail GMs and Head Office department managers to obtain a clear understanding of individual department’s business objectives, activities, risks, and priorities relating to e-commerce.
  • Manage the country teams responsible for the platform and operational activities such content management, digital merchandising, performance marketing, conversion optimisation, user experience, order fulfilment, customer service, fraud mitigation and security.
  • Actively propose opportunities for improved operational and cost efficiencies to provide the highest level of quality, reliability, and security for the digital business.
  • Liaise with the Australian Head Office on technical requirements to enhance platform functionalities and bug fixes.
  • Enhance the website’s role in the company’s omnichannel strategy to drive transactions and traffic online and to our stores.
  • Drive the execution of SEO, SEM strategies and other paid media activities to support the growth of the online business while ensuring ROAS goals are met.
  • Leverage site analytics to monitor performance and turn insight into recommendations and action plans to drive results.
  • Track and report on progress and successes via relevant KPIs and business metrics
  • Support the Digital Transformation Committee to manage various projects as determined by the digital strategy.
  • Monitor and keep the retail GMs abreast of online competitor and e-commerce activities, and digital marketing initiatives, and communicate to key stakeholders. Keep current with emerging web technologies. Maintain an up-to-date awareness of technical, legislative, and procedural issues relevant to the business.

Experience / Qualifications / Knowledge:

  • Degree in any relevant discipline. E.g., Business Management, Marketing, IT, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years related experience in managing a digital business preferably for a leading retailer.
  • Strong track record of setting and driving e-Commerce strategies.
  • SEO / SEM & PPC campaign management experience.
  • Experienced in data analytics
  • Experience in managing or supervising a team within the digital space to drive and maintain high performance.
  • Negotiation experience, with proven ability to work within set budgets.
  • Experienced with project management, with an ability to prioritise issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written. Experience acting as a “Trusted Advisor” to senior management.
